A 54-years-old prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ, Eagle Parish has been shot dead by unknown gunmen in Odo Eran, Idiroko area of Ogun state.
The victim identified as Yomi Adetula, was shot at about 10:30am on Sunday, during a church service and his head severely damaged with an axe.
According to Galaxy TV, the three assailants came into the church, brought out a long double barrel gun, opened fire on the victim and thereafter fled the scene.
Confirming the incident, the police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said the victim was found in the pool of his blood with his head faced up.
She stated that investigations has been launched into the very sad occurrence and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects who escaped towards the border area.
