Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder of Salvation Ministries, has stirred controversy with a recent statement claiming that Jesus Christ despised poverty and deliberately avoided interacting with poor people during His earthly ministry.
Speaking to his congregation, Ibiyeomie argued that Jesus’ death and resurrection were not just for salvation but also to deliver believers from poverty. He insisted that remaining poor after embracing Christianity reflects a lack of spiritual understanding.
“Jesus never visited any p00r person’s house—check your Bible,” he said. “He visited Lazarus, who wasn’t p00r, and Zacchaeus, a wealthy sinner. He h@tes poverty—that’s the message.”
The pastor emphasized that while it’s acceptable to come to Christ in poverty, it’s wrong to stay that way.
