Bashir El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has stirred political tensions online with a post on his verified X handle, widely interpreted as a jab at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Can’t wait for this man to relocate to Bourdillon. The North is ready,” Bashir wrote on Tuesday, in what many see as a veiled swipe at Tinubu, who famously lived on Bourdillon Road in Ikoyi, Lagos, before assuming office as president.
The statement has since fueled speculation and political debate, especially coming on the heels of Nasir El-Rufai’s recent declaration of a new political coalition aimed at defeating President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
While Bashir El-Rufai has not clarified who exactly he was referring to, many on social media have taken it as a direct challenge to Tinubu’s hold on power.
