The recent Lassa fever outbreak has also claimed some lives in Kano State as three people have been confirmed dead while 292 persons who had contact with the late victims of the disease are on the state’s health watch list.

Kano’s Commissioner of Health, Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa who confirmed the outbreak in a press conference on Wednesday January 22, said two doctors and a patient believed to be the first victim died in the recent outbreak.

He further disclosed that 292 persons who had contact with the late victims are closely being monitored so as to quickly quarantine those who show symptom of the disease and also to contain its spread.

The Nation reported that the first victim of the recent outbreak in the state is a 28-year-old pregnant woman from Gwale LGA who fell sick two weeks after the death of her mother. She was referred to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital from a private hospital but died on January 1, 2020.
