Humanitarian affairs minister, Sadiya Farouq dismisses reports claiming she said ?Igbos shouldn?t expect money during COVID-19 lockdown because they want Biafra?

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, has dismissed reports which claimed she said Igbos wouldn’t receive the financial intervention from the Federal government because they are canvassing for Biafra.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, on Wednesday April 1st began the disbursement of N20, 000 to residents of Abuja as palliatives to cushion the economic effects of the stay at home order in many states due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Some persons went online to publish reports that Farouq has vowed not to extend th palliatives to the South East region because they have always called for the creation of their own country, Biafra.

She posted screenshots of the viral messages on her Twitter handle and described them as fake news.
