Monday night’s game between the New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks, as well as Tuesday night’s game between the Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls have been postponed, the NBA has announced.
In a statement, the league said the postponements are in “accordance with the league’s Health and Safety Protocols.”
The league added that the NBA and the players union will meet Monday about “modifying the league’s Health and Safety Protocols.”
The postponements are the third and fourth of the NBA season and will give the league three straight days of postponed games as Boston’s game against the Miami Heat on Sunday was postponed because Miami did not have the minimum eight players available because of ongoing contact tracing.
The Celtics were set to play Sunday with the minimum eight players after nine players were ruled out, including seven because of the NBA’s health and safety protocols.
While Kemba Walker (knee) and Romeo Langford (wrist) are injured, guards Javonte Green and Jaylen Brown, forwards Jayson Tatum, Semi Ojeleye and Grant Williams and centers Robert Williams III and Tristan Thompson were listed as out Sunday — and likely for some time beyond — because of the league protocols.
