Free agent PF Griffin agrees to deal with Nets

Free agent forward Blake Griffin has agreed to a deal with the Brooklyn Nets for the rest of the season, his agent Sam Goldfeder of Excel Basketball told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday.

Griffin, 31, agreed to a contract buyout with the Detroit Pistons on Friday and cleared waivers over the weekend.

While a number of teams were interested in Griffin, the six-time All-Star decided to join a loaded Nets roster that has their eyes on a championship.

Injuries have dramatically altered Griffin’s game, eliminating the high-flying rim attacks that marked his All-Star career. He now leans heavily on the 3-point shot and his ability to make plays for others.

Griffin averaged 12.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists for Detroit this season.
