Court Sentences Pastor To Jail Over Fraud



A Federal High Court in Makurdi, Benue State, has convicted and sentenced an acclaimed pastor,  Moses Abah Ijiga, to one-year imprisonment on offences of impersonation.

Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon found Ijiga guilty of the offence being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. 

The anti-graft agency had arraigned the man on a one-count charge bothering on financial indiscretion of the sum of N60,000.

In related news, a Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, the capital, sentenced one Joseph Oyediran to one-year imprisonment for cheating and impersonation.

EFCC had arraigned the convict indicted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the United States for cheating and impersonation.

Justice Mahmud Abdulgafar, who sentenced the convict, said that pieces of evidence presented before the court by the EFCC were overwhelming and uncontroverted.
