The National Dailies got a front page advertorial from the Presidency today January 1, 2020 but Punch Newspaper was noticeably missing.
While Punch Newspaper had photos of New Year celebrations across the world and other stories on its front page, other national dailies had the New Year message of President Muhammadu Buhari to Nigerians.
It is however unclear if Punch Newspaper was delibrately left out by the Presidency following its editorial on the alleged lawlessness witnessed in President Buhari’s administration. Recall that Punch Newspaper said it will “henceforth prefix Buhari’s name with his rank as a military dictator in the 80s ‘Major General’ and refer to his administration as a regime until they purge themselves of their insufferable contempt for the rule of law.”
