Church shooting after a funeral leaves at least two dead and multiple people injured in Florida

Two people have been killed and two others injured in a shooting that took place after a funeral at a Florida church on Saturday, January 1.

The shooting occurred just after 2:30 pm at the conclusion of a funeral, which was held at Victory City Church in Riviera Beach.

According to Mail Online, a boy, 15, and an unidentified man were pronounced dead at the scene. A woman and a juvenile were also shot and rushed to a local hospital. They are both believed to be in a stable condition.

NBC reported that the shooter fired 13 rounds before fleeing the scene.

Tywuante D. Lupoe, the senior pastor of the Victory City Church later took to Facebook to confirm the shooting.

We solicit the prayers of the saints today as we mourn the lost of two young black men to a sensless shooting after a funeral held here at the church.

PLEASE KNOW THAT THE SHOOTING DID NOT INVOLVE ANY OF OUR CHURCH’S MEMBERS AND IT DID NOT TAKE PLACE ON CHURCH GROUNDS. IT HAPPENED ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CHURCH.

I will update those that may be concerned as to what happened via 6:00 pm.

Thank you all for the text, calls, and inboxes. My wife and are well. Also, the saints are well. Again, let’s pray for the families that lost their loved ones today.

Tywuante D. Lupoe, Senior Pastor
