Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Ooni of Ife, caused quite a stir on social media on Monday, March 30, when the first class monarch gave a list of herbs that would help boost the immune system and battle coronavirus.
In a series of tweets, Oba Ogunwusi talked about the virus and lamented how people have failed to believe in traditional alternatives as treatment for the global pandemic.
According to the monarch, on June 6, 2019, during the World Ifa Festival, it was predicted that a pandemic war would be raged on the world but people failed to believe.
“Please do not take this for granted (The world did with the warning Last Year June). I also challenge researchers both in Nigeria and the world to make these natural herbs into clinical medicine and extract the vaccines from it.”
“To solve this ailment is through natural elements put together above all from nature. It has been tested!!! I have used it and also used it for some of the chronic Corona patients with testimonials,” Ooni proclaimed.
The monarch also revealed that he is working with alternative medicine practitioners and is ready to offer advice on the traditional solution to the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also warned against holding his advice with a fist of levity, adding that “tomorrow may be too late.”
Meanwhile, Nigerians on social media have now reacted to the Ooni of Ife’s advice as Legit.ng gathers some of the top reactions.
A social media user, Ifa Funso wrote: “There’s herbal for malaria cure, there’s herbal for jedi jedi cure, there’s berbal for typhoid cure, many more. Our ancestors used all kinds of herbals to cure us. Before Europeans invasion in afraka. but they won’t teach you this in school. Leave Ooni alone. go read your history.”
Another tweep, Bright star, reacted: “If it was a white man that brought it we would have valued it. Let’s try the herbal solution from the Ooni first before condemning it.”

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that as Nigeria continues to battle the global pandemic called coronavirus, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, March 30, signed the COVID-19 Regulations, 2020, into law in Abuja.
Femi Adesina, the special adviser to the president, revealed this in a statement, saying that COVID-19 has been declared a dangerous infectious disease.
