The Philadelphia Eagles are trading for San Francisco 49ers WR Marquise Goodwin, a source tells ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The Eagles and 49ers flipped sixth-round picks, with Philadelphia also getting Goodwin.
Goodwin’s three-year tenure with the 49ers was marked with its share of highs and lows. He posted his best NFL season in 2017, catching 56 passes for 962 yards and two touchdowns, earning a contract extension in the process. But Goodwin also dealt with a number of personal tragedies, including he and his wife losing multiple children from pregnancy complications. In February, Goodwin announced via social media that he and his wife had a baby girl, named Marae, and he proudly tweeted that he was a “#GirlDad.”
Goodwin, who turned 29 in November, has struggled with consistency on the field and injuries, which limited him to just 20 games over his final two seasons with the team. In 2019, Goodwin played in nine games with 12 catches for 186 yards and a touchdown before knee and foot injuries landed him on injured reserve.
Goodwin entered the league as a third-round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2013 and spent four years there before becoming one of the Niners’ first free-agent signings after coach Mike Shanahan took over in 2017.
The 49ers saved $3.875 million against the 2020 salary cap upon Goodwin’s release. He was scheduled to count $5.125 million on next year’s cap.
For his career, Goodwin has 140 receptions for 2,323 yards and 13 touchdowns in 75 games.
A former Olympic long jumper, Goodwin has said he intends to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
