Sources: AD could return in 2 weeks; LeBron in 3

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis will be re-evaluated by team doctors in L.A. this week and could return to play in the next 10 to 14 days and LeBron James could be right behind him, sources told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Davis, out since Feb. 14 with a calf strain and tendinosis in his right leg, will be examined on Thursday after the Lakers return from their current five-game, East Coast road trip, sources said.

And James, who suffered a high right ankle sprain three weeks ago, is on track be back in the lineup in three weeks, sources said.

The nine-year veteran Davis was averaging 22.5 points, 8.4 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals per game this season prior to the injury.

James was considered among the league’s leading MVP candidates — averaging 25.4 points, 7.9 rebounds and 7.9 assists — before Atlanta Hawks forward Solomon Hill dived into James’ ankle with the weight of his body while attempting to make a steal.

The Lakers are 12-13 since Davis went out, falling from No. 2 to No. 5 in the Western Conference standings.

ESPN’s Dave McMenamin contributed to this report.
