Muhammed and Timilehin: Two Killers Who Had Religion as Shield, Written by Oluwaseyifunmi Oyetunbi

The pattern of ritual killing in recent times among the youth population is scary. The way it’s almost impossible to profile these evil doers is even more worrisome.

Muhammad, the son of a prominent Imam in Ilorin who’s also an Alfa lured a girl he met online and killed her in a manner that shows that it’s not his first strike. He wasn’t caught in the act, he killed his victim, dismembered the body, and nobody knew until after days. This is an Alfa that probably still observed his daily 5hours prayers on the day he butchered the young girl.

The other guy who killed in a similar pattern about a month ago is Timilehin. He’s a music minister who spends most of his time in church. And of course respected as a man of God.
Timilehin lured his ‘girlfriend’ to his house, killed her and chopped her until she became unrecognisable.

My opinion is that most people were raised to be religious but not to know God, they grew up enjoying the trust the society throws at them for knowing how to recite Quran and knowing Bible from genesis to revelation. Religious people know it’s a lot easier for them to do evil because religion stands as shield.

I don’t like how we profile people in Nigeria by looking at things on the surface. Evil people are everywhere.

When you tell your children to be mindful of who they associate with, tell them to be double cautious of those that appear religious.
