The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has outlined preparations ahead of its next National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, scheduled to hold between Wednesday July 23 and Friday 25,2025, while reaffirming internal unity and criticizing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) over governance and economic issues.
While addressing journalists in Abuja, on Monday, the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba listed those entitled to attend NEC meetings.
Ologunagba revealed that the upcoming NEC meeting is expected to include updates from the party’s zoning and national convention committees.
He confirmed that the meeting would ratify concluded congresses across the country, following prior approval by both the National Working Committee (NWC) and the NEC.
He emphasized the importance of party unity and collective action ahead of the national convention, stressing that, the party remains strong, united, and committed to recalibrating for future electoral success.
Ologunagba also highlighted recent defections from the APC and pointed to ongoing insecurity in Anambra State as key concerns.
He stressed that the strength of the PDP lies in the people and not individual personalities, noting the unity among PDP governors and other stakeholders as evidence of the party’s internal cohesion that will give them victory in the 2027 general election.
The National Publicity Secretary further condemned the APC’s handling of economic and security issues.
He pointed to worsening economic conditions, a decline in public confidence, and increasing violence as signs of failure under the current administration.
He concluded that the APC is not positioned to retain power in the next election cycle arguing that President Bola Tinubu, or any APC candidate, would not be able to secure re-election due to unpopular policies and growing public dissatisfaction.
The PDP reiterated its commitment to offering Nigerians a credible and united alternative in future elections.
