Aregbesola’s Interior Ministry To Establish Babies’ Daycare Centre With N40million, Renovate Ikoyi Marriage Registry With N350million

The Ministry of Interior headed by Rauf Aregbesola has proposed N40 million for the establishment of a daycare centre for the ministry.

The figure is contained in the details of the 2022 appropriation budget for the ministry as presented to a joint session of the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari in October.

In the budget which was analysed by SaharaReporters, it was further realised that N350 million would be used by the ministry for the renovation Ikoyi Marriage Registry.

The government had in the 2021 budget proposed N1.1 billion for the renovation of the same registry.

The 2022 budget proposal further stated that the sum of N40 million would be used for “Establishment of staff canteen for the ministry.”

Meanwhile, Aregbesola has expressed the ministry’s determination and willingness to improve on its internally generated revenue to make up for the effect experienced during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.

The Minister stated this during the 2021 budget performance and 2022 budget defence with the House of Representative Committee on Interior at the National Assembly, Abuja on Tuesday.

Aregbesola also said that “the ministry under his watch is confronting the challenge of lack of regular Stakeholders’ engagement across the country, but all of these require huge funding that the committee will graciously look into for improvement.”
