A horrific incident in Edo State has left now fewer than 16 Hausa hunters dead after a violent mob attacked them over false accusations of kidnapping, Peak News revealed.
WorshipMedia further gathered that the incident occurred on Thursday, at Udune Efandion community of Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, Edo State.
According to Zagazola Makama, a Counter Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst, sources said the victims, primarily Hausa hunters, were en route from Port Harcourt to Kano for the Sallah festivities when they were intercepted around 1:30 p.m. by members of the Edo State Security Corps and local vigilantes.
The situation quickly escalated into deadly violence, with the mob setting the victims’ truck ablaze – trapping some bodies inside – while others were reportedly carried on wheelbarrows and thrown into the fire.
Security operatives arriving after a distress call managed to rescue only four survivors, who were rushed to His Grace Hospital in Uromi for emergency treatment.
Meanwhile, authorities have confirmed the arrest of five suspects, Zagazola said
