The wife is just blessed that the alleged mistress is not a Mike Tyson that could beat her to a pulp for this kind of public harassment. The worst part is that this alleged mistress might be innocent. But I feel the wife’s pain. She lost her wits. Jealousy does that to everybody. One time, I noticed my husband was sending money to the daughter of one of our former church members. Also saw some text messages that I did not understand on his phone, probably not from the girl because the texts were very vulgar and written in bad English; but I assumed that she sent them. I used to pride myself on being cool and collected with stuff like this and would advise girlfriends/wives not to contact the other woman, but I lost it with my husband. I wasn’t satisfied with his explanation (of course he denied any hanky panky – said he was assisting the family ‘cos their dad died) so at the time, it seemed rational to call the girl. . She responded with “ask your husband….” when I asked her why he was sending money to her! See disgrace that I allowed with my own hand! By God’s Grace, I realised my foolishness in calling her and called back to apologise for bothering her. Told her she should call me if she needed anything I could help with. She never did. What fight do you want to fight a mistress? Fighting might even make the affair more forbidden and thus more appealing to the parties involved. Plus, those suspicions might be misplaced. Your wife/husband might not be cheating- yes, girlfriends and married women cheat as much as men, but due to double standards, women are more careful and so they get caught less often. For example, men are dumb enough to give their mistresses rides in their car, boast about their activities to their friends who tell their wives who spread the message, communicate via text and take their floozies out to public places. Women are more coded and will not even breathe a word to their best friend. If, like me, you are too Grace-filled to hire an assassin to take out the threat to your peace of mind, take the threat to Christ. Only He can hold your marriage together for you.

Well written and properly articulated. I like your points and agree with most. My wife cheated and I didn’t know until she confessed 2 years after. She said every act of good deed from me made the pain and guilt worse for her. I forgave her, but sadly I still hold a grudge against the man
