UAE records first Middle East cases of Coronavirus

The United Arab Emirate on Wednesday January 29, confirmed Middle East’s first cases of the deadly Coronavirus. 

A family of four who arrived the country from Wuhan (the Chinese city where the virus broke out at the end of 2019), were diagonosed with the flu-like virus. 

UAE’s state-run WAM news agency reported that the country’s Ministry of Health and Prevention said it has taken the most necessary precautionary measures adopted globally when dealing with infected cases

The Ministry of Health and Prevention said; 

“All family members are in a stable condition and the situation was contained by following the most necessary precautionary measures adopted globally when dealing with infected cases.

“Emirati officials are taking all the necessary precautions in accordance with the scientific recommendations, conditions and standards approved by the World Health Organization. The general health condition is not a cause for concern.”

Emirates officials who also commented on the outbreak, said it will be continuing its flights to Beijing, Guangzhou, and Shanghai, as well as Hong Kong.

A statement released by the airline which UAE is home to, read in parts; 

“We are providing masks and hand sanitisers to all crew on our flights to China. Our crew who serve passengers with any symptoms have been advised to wear masks onboard.”
