Labour Union Threatens Strike Action In Adamawa Over Minimum Wage

The Nigerian Labour Congress in Adamawa says it will commence strike action on February 25 except the state government conceded to its demands.

The was contained in a bulletin released by the union on Wednesday.

According to the bulletin, the union had been in meetings with the state government on the implementation of the new minimum wage.

The NLC has been on an enforcement train for the minimum wage that was signed by the Nigerian Government on Wednesday.

“We have made the government to understand the level of sacrifice that workers can offer in this regard.

“The trade union side once more has given the state government additional grace period of one week to the closing hours of Tuesday 25th February, 2020 to conclude and sign agreement.

“At the expiration of this notice, the organised labour in the state will have no option than to mobilise her members to proceed without further notice, on indefinite strike action,” the bulletin said.
