Hibernation Insomnia

What month it? Feel like been up all winter. Pretty sure not hibernate once. No look snow amount, no look snow amount, no look snow amount—oh, no, it already January.

Scat.

O.K., if hibernate right now, that . . . three and half month. Need solid four month or useless in spring.

Eat sapwood? Probably hibernate. But not good hibernate. When wake in April, feel like still half-hibernate. Not feel right till summer.

Maybe lumber in forest for wear out. No, too tired for lumber. But not tired enough for hibernate. Bad middle ground.

Too much moonlight. Need leaf-and-stick cover for make no moonlight. Like dam, but for den. Ask beaver for build next year. Then eat beaver.

Should meditate. But mind always wander and end up in dark place where feel bad about life—fur go silver, choose wrong mate, sometimes feel like maul cub.

Ate too much trout. Always do this—overdo trout when fall end for build up fat reserve, then awake half winter wonder why stomach hurt.

Scat—leave honey out?

Need pee. But, if get up and leave den for pee, no chance for hibernate. What month it now? February. Can hold.

Heartbeat slow. That normal for hibernate, but feel . . . off. Perfect. Just what need now. Grr.

Two month left. Can function off two month.

Let see, when wake up, need forage for berry . . . catch salmon for cub . . . terrorize camper. Stop think spring-do list! It make worse.

Need stream for drink. Could swear brought snow here. Where it go? Oh—melt over winter. Such idiot.

If awake with someone, not be so bad. But mate growl if woke. If situation reverse, not mind. Ah, know that not true—would growl for ruin hibernate and then be one forced get cub ready in spring, when it total scat-show.

What that sound? Bird sing? Chipmunk frolic? Earth thaw?

It spring. Up whole winter. Hunt me now.

Great—now feel like hibernate and not want leave den.

Or maybe just depressed.
