Other Failed Peloton Product Placements

A Peloton stationary bike played a pivotal role on the new HBO Max
“Sex and the City” revival, whose premiere preceded a drop in the
company’s stock price on Friday. —The Times

Unfortunately, Peloton has a long history of failed product placements in many famous scripts. Here are just a few:

“Alien”

The crew of the Nostromo is eating dinner at a table in the ship’s mess hall. Gilbert Kane starts gagging.

ELLEN RIPLEY: What’s wrong?

KANE: I don’t know. . . . I’m getting cramps.

Kane screams and falls onto the table.

RIPLEY: What is it? What hurts?

Kane convulses, moaning. Then, suddenly, a Peloton bursts out of his chest. The crew is horrified. The Peloton looks around curiously, then quickly rolls away.

RIPLEY: Was that an exercise bike?

“Titanic”

Rose and Jack wait in the freezing ocean as the Titanic sinks.

ROSE: I love you, Jack.

JACK: Don’t you do that, Rose. Don’t you say your goodbyes.

ROSE: I have to. I’m sorry, Jack. There’s only room on this door for one more body, so it’s either you or this Peloton I just bought. And I choose the Peloton.

Rose reveals a Peloton next to her on the floating door. She smiles. Jack dies.

“The Godfather”

Mr. Woltz is asleep in bed. It is early morning. He stirs awake. As he rises, he realizes that there is blood on his hands and all over his bedsheets. He rips off the covers and sees a decapitated Peloton. Mr. Woltz screams.

“The Shining”

Wendy hides in the bathroom. Jack is hitting and splintering the door.

WENDY: Jack. Please. Don’t . . . Don’t . . .

Jack smashes through the door using a Peloton.

JACK: Heeere’s Johnny!

Wendy screams.

JACK: Johnny is what I named my new Peloton—I’d like for us to keep it in the bathroom!

“Star Wars: Episode IV—A New Hope”

Luke, Obi-Wan, Han, and Chewbacca chase a TIE fighter through space.

LUKE: Look at him, he’s heading for that small moon!

Obi-Wan squints.

ObiWan: That’s no moon. That’s . . . That’s a Peloton!

A giant Peloton comes into view. It fires a laser beam. The Millennium Falcon is blown to bits.

“Jaws”

Martin, eyes wide, backs into the galley. He doesn’t even look at Quint.

MARTIN: You’re gonna need a bigger boat. . . .

He pauses.

MARTIN: Because I just bought us a Peloton!

Martin pulls a Peloton into the frame.

QUINT: Are you crazy?! Pelotons attract sharks!

Suddenly, a massive great white shark chomps down on the boat, eating both men whole. Then the shark chokes on the Peloton and dies.

“Psycho”

Marion Crane is taking a shower. Frightening, staccato music plays. A killer approaches with a knife. The shower curtain opens. Marion turns around and screams. She is looking directly at a Peloton. The Peloton stabs Marion to death.
