 A Nigerian pharmacist has decried the spike in the prices of drugs meant for cancer patients. In a post shared on X, @subpharmacist said he is currently working in a cancer clinic and he has noticed a low turnout of patients. He mentioned that upon inquiry, he discovered that a lot of patients can no longer afford the drugs as most of them have doubled in price. He wrote;I am currently working in the cancer clinic, and sadly, the prices for some cancer medications have doubled. I noticed a few patients in the clinic. I tried to find out why, and what I found out was heartbreaking. A lot of patients can no longer afford to pay for their medications. Something that was sold for N200/tab is now about 400/tab. Some injections moved from N200k to a crazy figure. How are patients going to cope? Hows the average Nigerian going to deal?The Ministry of health and the Nigerian government have to look into this.
